We are a family-run, working farm, with 100 acres of grass which we use to make hay which is sold locally to feed cattle, sheep and horses, and 200 acres of arable land which is used to grow wheat and oilseed rape. The Baker family has been farming here since the 1940’s, and Chris Baker is the third generation of his family to farm this land. George, his father, moved here when he was 11 years old, and remembers hand-milking the cows in the Stalls, and the land being worked with horse-drawn implements. He remembers Land Girls working on this farm during the war and Prisoners-of-War being kept at Tythrop. I am sure you will meet him at some point, he always enjoys a chat.
